FAQ’s
How much do you charge?
It’s hard to give a price without knowing the specifics of your shoot, I’ll always provide no obligation estimates for you once we’ve discussed your requirements, every project has different considerations that impact on the price. Time commitments, deliverables, location and usage will all impact on the price and that’s why I don’t have a 1 size fits all price.
What areas do you cover?
I work all over the UK but am based in Guildford, Surrey so the majority of my work is around London and the South East. I have regular clients in Reading, Birmingham and Cambridge, I’m very happy to travel for shoots and make allowances for travel costs to reflect this. All costs will be confirmed ahead of any shoots to avoid any unexpected surprises.
Do you shoot on location or in a studio?
I work both on location and in studio settings, depending on your needs. For industrial and commercial photography, I typically shoot on location or in commercial studios. For headshots and business portraits it’s usually most convenient for me to set up at your office with portable studio equipment. I bring professional lighting equipment to any location that I’m attending.
How long does a photoshoot take?
Again this very much depends on the nature of the photography that we are doing and how long we need to set up. Most location shoots take around an hour to setup so factor that into any time calculations that you are making. Individual Business Headshots take between 15-20 minutes each, Editorial and Business Portraits can take 1 to 2 hours depending on how much variety we are going for and how much time the subject has. Industrial location shoots usually take at least a few hours on site, budget half for a day’s photography minimum, but this can last all day if we have material to work with, this is very much led by you.
What can I do to make my Photoshoot a success?
The most import thing is to be prepared, the more we have resolved before the shoot the more we can achieve on the day and the smoother the experience is for everybody. Try to be sure that everyone is aware the shoot is taking place, they are dressed appropriately, they have time in their calendars, any props that are required are actually available and any required permissions are in place with the location (if there is one).
What should I wear for my Corporate/Business Headshot?
For corporate headshots, wear what you'd typically wear for an important business meeting - professional attire that reflects your brand, you know you much better that I do. Solid colours work best on camera, avoiding busy patterns, distracting Jewellery (unless this is a big part of your identity) or bright whites. Bring a couple of outfit options if possible. I'll guide you on the day to ensure you look your professional best." The most important thing is that you are comfortable in what you’re wearing, it fits well and it doesn’t overly distract from your face. It’s you that needs to be the star of the photo not your amazing wardrobe.
I hate having my picture taken, is there anything I can do to make it better?
The biggest trick is to not worry about it, I know that it’s easy to say but the less you dwell on it the easier you’ll find it! I’ll guide you gently through the process when we are together, relax and go with the flow, don’t try to hard, you’ll get some great pictures that you’ll be super happy with and you’ll wonder afterwards what all the fuss was about.
Do you retouch the photos?
"Yes, all delivered images are professionally edited and colour-corrected. For headshots, this includes natural skin retouching to ensure you look your professional best while maintaining a natural appearance, a gentle polish is my favourite way to describe it. For commercial and industrial photography, editing includes exposure correction, colour balancing, and any necessary cleanup to ensure high-quality final images." More advanced retouching can also be provided if required at an extra charge, this is best discussed between us when we know what we are looking for.
What is the Turnaround time for delivered photos?
"For corporate headshots, you'll typically receive your edited images within 5-7 working days. Larger commercial and industrial photography projects are usually delivered within 10-14 working days. Faster delivery can be arranged if you have specific requirements or deadlines- please ask when booking and we can work it out.
How do I book a photography session with you?
Contact me via phone on 07980 585964 or email at phil@philadams.me with details of your requirements. I'll discuss your needs, provide a quotation, and check availability. Once confirmed, I'll send a booking confirmation and any pre-shoot guidance you need. I don’t usually require a deposit to secure the date unless your shoot is very complicated or requires a large time commitment, we can discuss this too if needed.
What Happens if I need to reschedule?
"I understand that business circumstances change, it happens. If you need to reschedule, please give as much notice as possible. Rescheduling with more than 7 days notice is usually straightforward. Cancellations or rescheduling with less notice may incur charges depending on the circumstances. Full terms are provided when booking.
Do you provide the Full Copyright and usage rights?
For most business photography commissions, you receive full commercial usage rights for your company's marketing, website, social media, and promotional materials. I retain copyright as the photographer, but you have extensive licensing to use the images for your business purposes. Specific usage terms can be confirmed in the quotation.
